quiltin'

tonight is my second quilting class - again I'm excited, but I don't know what to expect! I can only imagine things get harder from class one !

i've been really busy and i wanted to say thank you to all my new (and repeat) customers who have come to me for their special events like weddings, birthdays, parties, and also for gifts for their loved ones. i know there's a lot of choice out there - especially on etsy - so i'm really grateful for those of you who chose me. it's so fun to work with new people and it's even better to have people come back for a second or third helping! it means a lot !

happy joy joy

so this morning I got a very nice email from a very nice girl telling me she linked me in her VERY nice blog.

to say "link" is an understatement!
she devoted a whole post spotlighting me!

i nearly fell over when I read how much she enjoyed my one man show!
my mother always told me i'm an aquired taste.

It is so kind, and full of great, clever writing!
(i just typed "righting". for the record, i'm really tired)

She devotes her posts to bargain shopping - which, hello, we all need help with. i think every single person i know has said both these things in the last month - "I'm poor" and "I have nothing to wear". So, there - problem solved! To check out her adorable and funny and USEFUL (something I can't say for myself) blog,

My post is on top! (giggity)

tally-ho!

off i go to londontown.
since my husband is (swoon) english, we go there more often than anywhere else.
i don't know much, but i know what i like.

here are some of my favorite london places...

1. Blake's Hotel
My ultimate favorite place to stay in London.... It's quiet, amazing, the bathtubs are incredible, and it's on the loveliest of streets, and duh, it's so decadent!

2. My favorite place to shop has to be Matches. Granted, it's expensive and I rarely buy anything, however, it is an amazing place to be when you do have the money to spend! They also have a great blog, click here to see!

3. Another one of our favorite discoveries on our last London trip is Aubin & Wills in Notting Hill. It has an old English country vibe mixed with great urban styling. My ultimate fave!

4. The Electric House - Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing vibe. The end. The actual club itself is a private derivative of Soho House, but the restaurant is open to all. Next time you're in London, go go go!

5. La Famiglia - my husband's childhood restaurant. We love to go there together and you just know hundreds and hundreds of families have made memories there. It's some of the best Italian I've had - it even rivals some of the food I've had in Italy.

6. My husbands contribution to this list is Southbank. It's almost like South Street Seaport (not quite, but the only thing I can compare it to...). It's on the River Thames, and its a long walk with galleries, great food, clubs, theatres, gardens, the London Eye (see no. 10) - anything a tourist would want, without feeling too touristy. I've only been there once with him, and I must say it was pretty romantic... that said, he was entirely enthusiastic about contributing this.

7. Primrose Hill - one of the prettiest parks I've seen and spent a lovely afternoon there once visiting with friends of ours. Seems to me like a perfect place to have a picnic! image via kaydeok's flickr.

8 . Topshop, duh. There may be one in New York now, but the London giant still gets my heart a flutterin'.

9. Tate Modern - I spent a perfect day wandering the huge museum all by myself once when my husband had a bunch of meetings. You feel incredibly alone there in the best most satisfying way possible.

10. The London Eye - it may be the the most touristy thing to do next to visiting Buckingham Palace - but the view is worth it.

And there you have it. My top 10 London List of Awesome Jesse-Friendly things to do! I'm sure there are people who would disagree, however, this is MY list, and there ain't nothin you can do 'bout it!

work in progress

so my bedroom is still a little dry. although i painted the walls and got the linens and the curtains and the rug, it's lacking something. beyond a headboard and "perfect" art on the walls, there is an element that I needed to replace and now I know what it is!

My side table!
at present, it's a plexiglass nesting table which i love but lacks the
heart to be a part of my bedroom.

I'm gonna order this adorable hand crocheted pouf from le souk and put my silver Moroccan tray on top of it.
verrrry excited.

hell to the yea!

i did it!

so easy i just took so long to actually get off my coolie to do it!

i am so happy and feel so accomplished!

plus, i LOVE it!

i bought that shabby piece of crap last year at the flea market
thinking i'd re-paint and re-upholster right away, but of course
i just kind of ignored the project until today.

all you need is a piece of crap, a bucket of paint, some fabric, a staple gun,
and about an hour and a half of some free time!

yay!

up up and away!

UP WAS GREAT!
RUN, don't walk to the theatre!
and if you can see it in 3-D, like we did, you SHOULD!!

my girls and i had a wonderful time watching it.

i think one of the things we enjoyed the ABSOLUTE MOST was the Short right before it, called "Partly Cloudy".

It managed to break all of our hearts in 6 minutes.

UPDATE! DANG IT WAS DISABLED! well go see UP so you can see "Partly Cloudy"!

the sprout and the bean

so i mean i wouldn't call myself a FARMER, however, I did buy 2 cans of "grow your own veggies" and one sprouted yesterday! honestly i think i would have gotten less excited if i was pregnant. for those who know me - i'd be pretty excited, so this sprout really is a big friggin deal.

radish is a little slow on the uptake, but aren't they all! oh radishez, you all tha same.

i also have some oregano and basil in my flower box.
i call them reggie and silvie.
we'll see how those do.

co.

we ate a marvelous lunch today at a restaurant called Company near our house. It has amazing pizza and a great environment. We were told most people wait for like an hour to get a table (they don't take reservations, natch), but i guess we got there at a good time, cause we sat right down. everything was amazing. it was opened by sullivan street bakery's jim lahey, so i'm not at all surprised.
it was razz-a-mattaz-ical!

it's at 230 Ninth Avenue @ 24th Street. go forth and gorge!

it really depends on the day

i know some people are always "positive".

i am generally "negative".
but for some reason today i am half glass full.
1) i barely slept 2) my cat is having surgery today (the second one she's had of this kind) 3) i have (literally) 13 BIG orders to fill by Friday. 4) my husband is out of town. 5) i'm going with my mom for her chemo treatment today.

normally on a day like this - i would wake up with an eye roll and probably a few tears.

but LOUD disco music at 745 am really changes an outlook on things.

1) i got no sleep cause i was watching a really good movie 2) after surgery my cat won't be urinating pure blood and she will be out of pain! 3) hopefully the money i make from 13 big orders can help pay for cat surgery 4) that one still sucks cause i miss him. 5) chemo is a good thing! she's getting better!

See? Disco at 730 am never hurt anyone!
